If you struggle with not making enough money in your business or with money in general, have an honest look about your approach to it.
Money is energy.
Money is energy vibrating at the frequency of a coin, a bank note.
Yet we attach so much more to it.
We attach our expectations.
We attach our dreams.
We attach our beliefs.
We attach our emotions.
We attach our thoughts.
And we give it way too much importance.
We swell its ego.
We blame it for our happiness and our unhappiness.
That can’t be true.
It isn’t true.
You won’t be happy if you have more money.
You might be happy if you are feeling good about yourself.
If you are feeling relaxed.
If you aren’t worried.
If you are at peace with yourself.
But it’s not about the actual money.
Money isn’t to blame.
Money isn’t responsible.
Yes, if you have money you can go and book that holiday you so need, or buy that lovely pair of shoes, or have no second thoughts about going out for a nice meal with your friends, or ____ (fill the blank).
But what really is happening here, isn’t about the actual money.
The important thing here is….
…how it makes you feel.
How going on the holiday makes you feel.
How wearing that gorgeous pair of shoes makes you feel.
How going out with your friends makes you feel.
How _____ (whatever you filled in the blank) makes you feel.
And so on.
We attach thoughts like “when I put on that dress it makes me feel like a million dollars.”
Do you see how these innocent words are engrained in our minds and pop out?
But money is just money.
On the other hand, going on holiday might make you feel:
- having fun
- being naughty
- indulging yourself
- treating yourself
And buying those shoes might make you feel
- taking care of yourself
- valuing yourself
- taller 😉
You see it’s all about the emotions that are linked to what that specific experience gives us.
It just happens to be that in order to have those experiences we need to exchange them for money.
So what would it feel like to be able to feel that way without having to spend any money at all?
What would it feel like to wake up every day and feel like you feel when you are on holiday or when you have just bought that new pair of shoes or whatever you wrote / thought of above?
You need to figure that out first.
And your values are a great place to start.
If you’d like to explore what your core values are, here is an exercise I use with my clients.
Once you know your core values, make sure that you do things everyday that are aligned with them.
And you will see that you actually don’t need money for each of those feelings.
That there are other ways to feel those feelings.
That it doesn’t all boil down to having money.
You will understand that the struggles you feel, the doubts and worries you have can all be boiled down to having an internal conflict between two or more of your core values.
Knowledge is power.
So once you are aware of your values and what they mean to you, you will be able to integrate more and less of what is important and not so important in to your life.
It will make your decisions easier. You will understand your challenges better.
And being aligned with your values means you will be in your flow.
Your energy will be aligned.
And you know how essential that is.
Hope you enjoy it!
